2010 NFL Draft

29. New York Jets (9-7)

CB Kyle Wilson (Boise State)  

This is a good pick for the New York Jets.  With already the best defense in the league, the Jets made sure that they will remain number one in that aspect.  With the trade for WR Santonio Holmes, they were able to address their strengths and make them even stronger.  Although I would have gone with a pass rusher such as Jerry Hughes out of TCU, you can't fault the Jets for grabbing Wilson.

Why he's good for the Jets:

The Jets already have arguably the best 1-2 combination at cornerback, but you might as well lock up the slot receiver while you're at it.  Wilson was the best cover corner in the draft, I feel, and this is a great move by the Jets.

28. Miami Dolphins (7-9)

DT Jared Odrick (Penn State)  

Great move by the Dolphins... They were able to trade out of the top 15 and still get a quality defensive lineman.  The Dolphins have a lot to prove this year, and with the addition of Odrick on the defensive line, they will have the opportunity to apply pressure from all positions on the line.  

Why he's good for the Dolphins:

Odrick is a very versatile player... He can play any position on the defensive line.

27. New England Patriots (10-6)

CB Devin McCourty (Rutgers)  

A real reach I feel for the New England Patriots.  I felt that he was a 2nd round draft pick at best, and that Kyle Wilson would have been the pick to make.  He will definitely contribute on specials teams, but just don't see him as anything more than a nickel back in the league. 

Why he's good for the Patriots:

I really don't buy into this pick, but time will tell.

26. Arizona Cardinals (10-6)

NT Dan Williams (Tennessee)  

With this pick, the Arizona Cardinals are able to shore up a defensive that lost a lot of players over the offseason.  Dan Williams is a great fit for the Cardinals, because he is a true nose tackle, and has the ability to clog gaps and stuff the run.

Why he's good for the Cardinals:

The Cardinals gave up a lot of yards on defense and they need to rebuild a defense that lost a lot of key players.  He instantly comes in and upgrades the middle of this fragile offensive line.

25. Denver Broncos (8-8)

QB Tim Tebow (Florida)  

Well, this was surprising... I imagined he would be getting drafted in the 2nd round, but he is a good athlete and a great player.  Tebow is a player that many NFL teams loved due to the fact that he is a high character guy, who will not stop until he is the best.  

Why he's good for the Broncos:

This is a good fit because Tebow does not have to start from the start.  He has the ability to sit for a few years, learn the pro style offense, or even be put into certain packages.  I like this pick for the Broncos, because he also has the opportunity to come out and beat out Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn.

24. Dallas Cowboys (11-5)

WR Dez Bryant (Oklahoma State)  

Wow... Great move by the Cowboys to leapfrog over the Baltimore Ravens in order to pick up one of the most dynamic Wide Receivers in the draft.  He has the most play-making ability and will be trouble for teams for many years to come.

Why he's good for the Cowboys:

Obviously, Roy Williams was not the answer opposite of Miles Austin, but he now will have a bit of the pressure taken off of his shoulders with this pick.  As a Giants' fan, I hate this pick.  He is a great player, and this will be a problem for us for many years.
